Location:
The location is very peaceful and tranquil on the edge of a small hamlet in heart of the beautiful Ribeira Sacra region, in the south of the Lugo province. There are only a few neighbours living in this hamlet and the main village with all necessary facilities (shops, supermarkets, a pharmacy, bakery, school, a medical centre, etc.) is Ferreira de Panton, at about 10 minutes away by car.
Panton is a pretty rural village with interesting monuments, such as the renovated town hall, which was previously a large Manor House. Just outside this village you can find a medieval convent with a pretty Romanesque church. This church forms part of the so called “Ruta del Románico”, a route with many important churches and monasteries of Romanesque art. Other important monuments in this area are the churches of Eiré, Atán, Pombeiro and San Fiz de Cangas, at a few Km. from the property. At approx. 20 minutes by car the town of Monforte de Lemos offers all necessary services and facilities, a local hospital, hypermarkets, all kind of shops, good restaurants, a lively night life, etc. Monforte was an important medieval town and you can find here many interesting monuments, such as the huge 17th century building of “El Cardenal” (with some paintings of El Greco in the museum), the castle, palace and monastery of the count of Lemos (today a “Parador” by the state owned Hotel), the convent of “Las Clarisas” with an important museum of sacred art, the medieval bridge over the river Cabe and the old Jewish quarter near the castle. At approx. 10 Km. from the property you can find a quality 18 hole golf course with Spa hotel (Aguas Santas).
Airports:
- Santiago de Compostela: Approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes by car.
- Vigo: Approx. 1 hour and 40 minutes by car.
The airline companies Ryanair and Clickair offer economical flights to the airports of Santiago de Compostela, Vigo and A Coruña and the Portuguese airline company Tapair offer good priced flights from Amsterdam, London, Milan, etc. to the city of Porto, at only 1 hour and 15 minutes by car from the Galician border.
